Home Remodeling Athens, Jefferson, Braselton GA
While home remodeling might be a new line for Restore Pros, the business actually traces its lineage back to the days when Ross Kesterson was building houses.
Ross grew up around home construction and remodeling. His mother owned an interior painting business and his father was a builder. When he was 21, Ross was working as an electrician and was already building homes in the Athens and Oconee County area.
It was while he was building houses that Ross got into restoring damaged property. When the housing market shifted in the mid-2000s, Ross shifted his business, too. He went from home construction to repairing homes damaged by water or fire.
While Restore Pros continues to focus on cleaning and repairing damage, Ross is also moving back into the construction side of the business.
“There wasn’t much remodeling going on in the past 10 years. Homeowners were holding onto their cash. If they spent money on a house it was minimal. But now people who are looking to do some upgrades or remodeling to their homes are having a tough time finding people to do those jobs. And we have the expertise and background to help people with their home remodeling jobs,” Ross said.
Kitchen and bath remodeling are among the most popular jobs people are doing to update and remodel their homes, but Ross said another area where he’s getting requests for home remodeling is in the basement.
“A lot of people have unfinished basements, and they are finishing them for parents who are moving in with them. Some people with unfinished basements want a place where they can entertain. Their kids are older and they want a little more privacy and freedom,” Ross said. “We are also talking to people who want to have additions put on their homes. They are in a great location and don’t want to move, but they want to add to what they have.”
Ross said, too, that the economic downturn of 2008 and the slow recovery have kept contractors from building new homes, and with a lack of housing many people are finding it is more economically feasible to remodel their home rather than buy new.
“Whatever it may be, we can put them in what they’re looking for,” Ross said.
Ross also pointed out that a lot of the general contractors still in business aren’t interested in doing remodeling jobs, preferring to keep their focus on new construction. As a result, people who want to remodel are having a tough time finding someone who can help them remodel a kitchen or completely re-do a bathroom.
“So we hear from a lot of homeowners that they don’t know where to start and they get overwhelmed, but when they get in touch with us we can help them with the planning, the design, and we can even help them get financing,” Ross said.
So whether you’re looking to update your kitchen, completely remodel your bathroom, finish out an unfinished basement or add an addition to your home, Restore Pros is the company with the experience and the expertise to build the dream home you’re already in.
